FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

What is different about Tamnan tea?

Tamnan tea is made from 100% Thai herbs and not like you are used to from the tea plant. You may know these herbs from Thai cuisine and are super fresh because they were purchased by us through direct trade with Thai farmers. In this way we also give the farmer a helping hand. The taste of Thai tea has similarities to that of Thai cuisine; fresh lemongrass, spicy ginger and soft pandan are flavors that you can come across. Incidentally, our tea is processed and packaged by the local Thai community so that the added value of our product remains in Thailand and not in Europe. For example, Thai women who find other difficult work outside the rice season have processed and packaged our first batch of tea.

Why are the colors so different from other tea I know?

The bright beautiful colors of our tea are pure and only come from the freshness of the herbs. These are therefore 100% natural. In Thailand people are used to this color and taste when drinking tea. The pronounced taste can also be used to drink the cold tea. Delicious in the summer with a cube of ice and also without calories.

Where does Tamnan tea come from?

Our tea comes from direct trade with small Thai farmers. These farmers often live off rice cultivation and grow extra herbs to earn a living. The exact place of origin varies because it depends on the growing season of the various herbs. For example, our hibiscus grows in a different period of the year and in a different area than, for example, our pandan.

Is Tamnan tea organic?

No, formally not. We do buy tea from organic sources, but without a formal certificate because we add other herbs from small farmers. This means that we cannot prove a 100% biological origin. Since we visit the farmers who grow our herbs ourselves, we are happy to know where our herbs come from and how we treat fields, fertilization and the like, so that we can serve you a nice product.

Which brewing advice applies to Tamnan tea?

Our herbs are often coarser cut or ground, so that all the nice oil and taste are still in the plant. This also gives the great taste experience of our tea. To extract these beautiful flavors from the herbs, we recommend a temperature of 100 degrees Celsius when making the tea. A lower temperature is of course also possible, but the intensity of the taste is then probably less. After adding the water, let the tea stand for between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on your own taste.

Can the tea also be drunk cold?

In Thailand people are used to drinking this tea cold. In addition, it is a very healthy alternative to high-calorie drinks, as our tea is calorie-free and 100% healthy enjoyment.

Why are shipping costs excluding VAT?

This is a legal requirement. Depending on the product in your shopping cart, we have to calculate 9% or 21% VAT on the shipping costs and state it on the invoice. That is why the exact shipping amount can vary depending on what you buy (even if it is a minimal difference in practice).
